UPHCA’s June monthly update is here, and this one is worth a few minutes.
This month’s update covers what Utah plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and subcontractor professionals need to know right now: 2026 video continuing education, Academy graduation, training facility expansion, St. George backflow classes, the August golf tournament, and continued advocacy work at the Utah State Capitol.

2026 UPHCA Conference Recap
The 2026 UPHCA Conference in March was a strong success.
A lot of people attended. A lot of events were held. Most importantly, a lot of good conversations happened between contractors, vendors, sponsors, business owners, and members of Utah’s plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and subcontractor community.
That part matters.
The value of a conference is not only the class, meeting, or official schedule. Sometimes the most useful part is the hallway conversation with someone who has already dealt with the same issue you are facing. It is sitting down with another contractor who understands your crew problems, business pressure, jobsite challenges, or next project.
That is why showing up still matters.

License renewal is due November 30, 2026.

UPHCA Academy Graduation Is Coming Up
UPHCA Academy graduation is coming up, and dozens of students have already signed up.
That is a big deal.
These students have put in the time. They have worked, learned, showed up, and kept moving toward a career in the trades. That deserves to be recognized.

UPHCA also needs to make sure there is enough space for family members at the event. Nobody wants grandma standing in the hallway because somebody forgot to register.

New St. George Lab Is Open
UPHCA’s new lab in St. George opened in April 2026.
This facility is already helping serve Southern Utah better. It hosts quarterly backflow classes, and other vendors and members are also renting the facility to train their own people.
That is exactly what this space was built to do.
It gives the industry a place where training can happen closer to home. It gives members a way to build skills without sending every employee up north. It gives contractors, vendors, and employers a practical facility to help their crews improve.
Training is easier to schedule when it does not turn into a full road trip with snacks, gas receipts, and one guy asking if you are there yet.
For Southern Utah contractors, this is a major step forward.

Salt Lake City Location Now Includes an HVAC Lab
UPHCA has also expanded the Salt Lake City location.
The SLC facility now includes an HVAC lab, which is a major step forward for training in Utah’s mechanical trades.
HVAC classes will begin shortly, and more details will be shared when they are ready. Anyone interested in those classes should join the mailing list for updates.
This expansion helps UPHCA continue building the kind of training system Utah actually needs.
That means more opportunities in plumbing, backflow, hydronics, HVAC, and mechanical trades. It also means better support for people who want to build real careers in the industry.

UPHCA Golf Tournament Is August 5
The UPHCA Golf Tournament is coming up on August 5.
There will be a morning tournament and an afternoon tournament.
Diamond and Platinum sponsors will have special codes for their tickets, so sponsors should watch for those codes and get signed up. UPHCA members are also encouraged to sign up now.
If you are planning to attend, now is the time to act.
The golf tournament is a good opportunity to bring members, sponsors, vendors, and contractors together outside the normal workday.
And yes, it is also a good opportunity to find out which contractor talks the biggest game and then immediately puts one into the weeds.
That is part of the fun.
But the real reason this event matters is simple: relationships matter. The stronger the connections inside the industry, the stronger the industry becomes.

Capitol Event Shows Why Contractors Need to Be in the Room
Another important update came from the recent breakfast with legislators at the Utah State Capitol.
The room was packed.
Utah legislators were there. Business owners were there. Power brokers, lobbyists, IEC, RMGA, and other industry voices were also present.
That is exactly the kind of room subcontractors need to be in.
Policies, rules, and regulations get discussed whether contractors are present or not. If subcontractors are not in the room, subcontractors are not part of the discussion.
That is the whole point.
The plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and subcontractor industry needs to be visible. It needs to be organized. It needs to show up before decisions are already made.
UPHCA will continue working to keep Utah contractors connected to the conversations that affect their businesses.
This is one of the clearest examples of why membership matters.
One voice is not as effective as a choir of voices standing together, protecting licensing and the trade.
